Postcard from the Highlands

Posted by rhulcareers on August 26, 2009

I am on my annual leave now, enjoying the romantic and fantastic scenery of Perthshire in Scotland.  It is a good time to sit back and take stock on the last year and all that is to come.

The second year of the International Student Careers Programme was a success with a wide range of events from the new mentoring scheme to the international careers fair.

Next year is going to build on that and introduce new workshops and Web 2.0 services to help international students at Royal Holloway. Whilst in Scotland next week I will be attending a conference about International Entrepreneurship and will be working with my colleague John King on entrepreneurship skills sessions over the coming year. I will also be getting more involved with some departments and taking responsibility for PhD student careers provision. Exciting stuff.

So as I sit here beside the river Tay, with my laptop and glass of whiskey, I am confident that for those students returning, and new students arriving, next year’s careers activities are going to be stronger than ever.

If you are a Masters student and you are currently finishing your project or dissertation, I wish you luck. Remember that the careers service will continue to support you and by joining gradclub you can extend your access to what we provide.

See you all at the begining of term!
