Every year the careers service organises two part-time work fairs on campus. The Autumn fair takes place today from 12.00pm – 2.30pm in the students union. Local employers are coming onto campus to recruit students for a variety of vacancies in the area. Remember you need to be realistic. Most student jobs are in catering and hospitality or in sales and retail. Campus jobs are advertised by departments on Message of the Day and on notice-boards throughout the college. Other positions can be found at JobOnline. Click here for other part-time work ideas. Read the rest of this entry »

WELCOME!
If you are a fresher and looking at this blog in your first week perhaps you haven’t yet been distracted by all the other things you are meant to be doing! Or maybe you have attended the International Student induction and have been keen to check out all the support services available to you.
We hope you settle in and enjoy your time at Royal Holloway. There is a jam-packed programme of careers events already organised – from volunteering to teaching, management consultancy to IT. You will get a copy of the full programme in your pigeon holes in your departments or at www.rhul.ac.uk/careers
Coming up:
1 October: Part-time Job Fair, Students Union.
Remember, most international students are allowed to work up to 20hrs per week on their student visa. Just turn up between 12noon and 2.30pm.
7 October: Introduction to Graduate Recruitment
This is aimed primarily at 2nd and 3rd years but anybody can attend. The session covers the typical application process for graduate jobs internationally. You must book to attend this event.
